July 17, 2009: Tea Party Organization Holds National Day of Protests against Obamacare
This event was not against healthcare reform it was against the proposed healthcare reform known as Obamacare. TEA Party groups wanted traditional health care fixed and a safety net provided for those who said wanted but could not afford. This as opposed to Obamacare which said the problem was so great, only a rewrite affecting everyone could address the problem. The pretext for Obamacare was that the number of folks who wanted but could not afford healthcare was so large appears to have been a deliberate misrepresentation(as all request for number who wanted but could not afford but now covered under Obamacare is deliberately not being released.) Equally under reported was that Democrats and Republicans took campaign contributions, and/or bribes and/or other consideration from hospitals and insurance companies to not fix traditional healthcare for years before Obamacare.- Don Mashak” The national tea party organization Tea Party Patriots (see August 24, 2010) holds a series of rallies and protests in locations throughout the nation to protest the Obama administration’s push to reform the nation’s health care system. Most of the protests take place outside the offices of US Congressional members. Don Mashak, a tea party activist writing for the Minnesota Examiner, accuses the national media and both the Democratic and Republican Parties of working together to deny media coverage to the protests, even lumping Fox News into the “conspiracy.” Mashak writes, “Apparently American News Reporters are a bunch of Political Cuckolds who prefer to nurse at the bitter teat of Tyranny.” Mashak estimates, “Hundreds, if not thousands,of protests like this occurred across the USA simultaneously”; a reporter in Atlanta notes definitively that 254 protests under the Tea Party Patriots banner take place. One protester in Atlanta tells the reporter that Canadian citizens routinely come to America to “pay regular prices” for health care “[b]ecause they cannot get that free stuff in Canada.” [WXIA-TV, 7/17/2009; Minneapolis Examiner, 7/18/2009]
